“I have called you by name, you are mine.”  Isaiah 43: 3

What is God’s plan for you? Every Christian is called to serve God according to their gifts and particular context. Every Christian has a vocation. It’s part of who God wants us to be. Vocation emerges, and continues to emerge, throughout life. Coaxed out by prayer and conversation, it’s shaped by God and confirmed by the Christian community.

There are many expressions of vocation within the Anglican Church. Some people are called to work with children and young people, with the homeless, or refugees. Others are called to evangelism or recognised ministry both ordained and lay. And there are those drawn to exploring the Religious Life as lived in a Community like ours.

Such a life in community is centred on prayer and service and lived under vows. It entails putting oneself at God’s disposal, and living a Christ-centred life with others on behalf of the Church and the wider world.

It’s a big step. But our ‘Alongsiders’ project encourages those who feel drawn to this way of life to come and spend time at the Convent, exploring something of both its joys and challenges. Click here to find out more.

If you sense a call to the Religious Life – it might be a persistent nudge or it might come as a bolt from the blue – do come and visit us. You may initially like a chat with one of the Sisters and if so, do contact the Sister in Charge on sisterincharge@csmv.co.uk or write directly to the Sister in Charge, St Mary’s Convent, Denchworth Road, Wantage, Oxon OX12 9AU.

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”

1 Corinthians 12: 4 – 6
