Sr Lorna has many artistic gifts, one of them being church embroidery. A number of the lectern falls that we use in chapel to mark our Saints’ days and different liturgical seasons have been embroidered by Sr Lorna over the years. This Eastertide we are very much enjoying her most recent creation.

Sr Lorna explains that on this new white lectern fall she has used the method of appliqué which she had not engaged with previously. This has involved sewing material over the top of other material to create a more three-dimensional effect.  White lilies are a traditional symbol of Jesus’ purity. Sr Lorna added some blue-toned leaves to tie in with the strips of blue on our white chasuble.

This new beautiful lectern fall is a very welcome addition to our chapel, enriching the worship of the Sisters and our guests.
