Our dear Sister Valeria died peacefully on Saturday 24th January – the feast of St Francis de Sales whose spirituality influenced our CSMV Rule. Sister Valeria was 95 years old and had been professed for 64 years.
Sister Valeria spent time in India as a young girl and returned there as a Sister where she was headmistress of our St Mary’s School in Pune and also for a time lived at the CPS Ashram. Prior to this she taught at St Mary’s School here in Wantage – being an English teacher by training. Sister Valeria also ministered in our houses in Clapham and more latterly, Smethwick. Here at the Convent, she was much loved as Guest Sister and Associates’ Sister and had a wide ministry of retreat giving and spiritual direction.
We give great thanks for Sister Valeria and for her faithful life of prayer and service. May she rest in peace and rise with Christ in glory.
