Sr Elizabeth Jane writes:

“At the beginning of November we welcomed a group from the Oxford Diocese Deaf Church for their Away Day. They began their day by joining us for a Eucharist in St Mary Magdalen’s Chapel, celebrated by their Chaplain, the Revd Roger Williams who lives locally and celebrates regularly for us. On this occasion Roger fully signed the Eucharist and another member of the group signed the readings and intercessions. We found the sign language very moving and enriching – giving a visual dimension to the spoken word.

After the Eucharist, the group enjoyed talks by Penny Beschizza (who is deaf herself), a committed Christian and a professional in Deaf Education.

It was a great joy to welcome this group and to worship with them. They, in turn, enjoyed their day and hope to come again”.
